Data collection

Dayscript does not collect personal data. It has no account system, advertising, tracking, or analytics SDK, and we operate no servers that receive your recordings, transcripts, or usage information.

What the app records

When you tap Start on your Apple Watch, Dayscript records audio from the watch microphone until you tap Stop. Recording never starts on its own. Along with the audio, the app keeps the time each recording started and ended, the watch battery level at that time, a log of recording events such as interruptions, and any moments you mark on the watch.

Where it is stored

Recordings are held on your Apple Watch until they have been transferred to your iPhone, then removed from the watch. Audio, transcripts, and the event log are stored on your iPhone and are not uploaded to us or to any third party.

Audio is kept on your iPhone for 30 days by default and then deleted; transcripts stay until you delete them. You can choose a different period, from 7 days to forever, in Settings.

Audio is left out of iCloud Backup unless you turn on “Include audio in iCloud Backup” in Settings. Transcripts and settings can be part of your iCloud or computer backup if you use one. Those backups are controlled by you and governed by Apple’s terms.

Transcription

Speech is converted to text on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Audio is not sent to us for transcription. The first time you use a language, iOS may download that language’s speech model from Apple. When you choose more than one language, each recording is transcribed on the device in each of them and the clearest result is kept.

Device permissions

Dayscript asks for the microphone on Apple Watch to record, and for notifications on Apple Watch so it can tell you if recording was paused and, if you turn it on, remind you to start in the morning. It does not request location, health data, contacts, photos, or the tracking identifier.

Other people

Your recordings may include other people’s voices. Laws on recording conversations differ by place, and many require the consent of everyone involved. You are responsible for telling the people around you and for following the law where you are.

Deleting your data

You can delete a single day, with its audio and text, by swiping it left in the Days list. Deleting Dayscript from your iPhone removes all recordings, transcripts, and logs stored by the app. Deleting it from your Apple Watch removes any recordings still waiting to transfer.

Children

Dayscript is not directed to children under 13. Because we do not collect personal data, we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
